CHICAGO -- It was Senior Day for the Simeon Wolverines in their regular season finale but the spotlight wasn't theirs alone, as junior pitcher Christian Lott delivered!
Lott had the most impressive outing we've seen this season as he dominated the Morgan Park Mustangs with great pace and superior command of his fastball/curveball combo.
It was a complete game one-hitter as he struck out 11, walked one and faced two more hitters than the minimum putting an exclamation point on a day meant to honor those on their way out.
“I came in and closed our last game and I came out rocky, walking not finding the zone so I knew today I had to come out and start dominating the zone. Just work off that and that’s what I did today,” Lott told The Bigs.
It was another clean effort behind Lott as the Simeon defense made every routine play, turned a double-play to end the second inning and didn't allow a runner past second base.
The seniors held it down offensively for the Wolverines. Daniel Jones Jr. had an RBI in the bottom of the first and bottom of the second. They got some insurance in the bottom of the fifth as Antwan Jackson and Bryce Jones' back-to-back RBI knocks extended the lead to 4-0.
Simeon moves to 13-10-1 (9-3 in conference/2nd place) while Morgan Park falls to 13-9-2. (8-6 in conference/3rd place)
*Kenwood leads the conference at 9-2 with a 12-6-1 overall record.
