#2 is…#1 - CHARLIE MOORE IS “#TheBIGS HS HOOPER OF THE YEAR”
He’s a coach’s dream, a defense’s nightmare, and the first ever “#TheBIGS High School Hooper of The Year.”
Charlie Moore of Morgan Park, who entered this season with a laundry list of expectations, has had Illinois High School Basketball on lock virtually all season. Leading the way for the Mustangs high-powered offense averaging 28pts/7ast/5stls, the 5’11 point guard played with the heart of a giant.
Whatever Charlie Moore lacks in size, he makes up for in pure skill. Elite handles, unstoppable going to the rim with an ability to finish that electrified the crowd, and if you slept on him behind the ark, he made you pay with deadly 3-point range.
Charlie Moore is simply the most unguardable player in the state of Illinois.
But Moore’s accomplishments didn’t come without challenge. A bitter rivalry with fellow powerhouse, Simeon, pushed Moore’s Mustangs to the brink, winning 2 of 3 matchups, and eventually having to crown the Simeon Wolverine’s Kings of the City.
Who could forget the largely publicized boycott of a February game vs Simeon that was centered around parent’s refusal to allow their children to play in a neutral site home game. Not to mention being snubbed as a “McDonald’s All-American” which is simply laughable.
All of which could have derailed the ultimate goal but Moore’s tunnel vision attitude has the Mustangs right where they want to be, just two more wins away from a State Championship.
The Mustangs take on Lincoln-Way West tonight(@7 Joliet Central High School) for a chance to head down to Peoria and win their 3rd Stare Championship in 4 years.
Next season Charlie Moore will attend Memphis University, following in the footsteps of Chicago Basketball legend and Chicago Bulls point guard, Derrick Rose.
Keep your eyes on Charlie. He is more than worth the look.
