In a historic move that blends the essence of two of Chicago’s most iconic franchises, the Chicago White Sox unveiled their 2025 Nike City Connect Series uniform. A bold crossover with the Chicago Bulls that bridges the worlds of baseball and basketball in a “first-of-its-kind collaboration”.

The jersey revealed Monday, is the first on-field Major League Baseball uniform to incorporate branding from an NBA team, marking an unprecedented fusion of two powerhouse sports identities. Designed with signature elements from both clubs, the uniform will make its on-field debut Friday, May 2nd when the White Sox host the Houston Astros at Guaranteed Rate Field.

“Our initial City Connect jersey was iconic,” said Brooks Boyer, White Sox Chief Revenue and Marketing Officer. “We wanted to build on the reach by creating a look that physically represents Chicago’s sports identity. For the first time, two of Chicago’s franchises will be represented on one jersey on a major league field.”

At the heart of the new design is the “CHICAGO” wording display across the chest, mimicking a Bulls typeface that also showcases the White Sox’s storied look from the 1930s. The jersey features pinstripes in red and black, symbolizing the rich identities of the Bulls and White Sox, and underscores a power declaration of city pride.

Other standout elements include the winged sock logo, a fresh reinterpretation of the Sox’s 1950s era uniforms and the crossover tag, a unique co-branded detail signifying the union between MLB and the NBA. A subtle yet powerful tribute to the South Side roots remains intact, with “SOUTHSIDE” etched into the sleeve and pant leg as a salute to the team’s first City Connect release last year.

The neckline also carries symbolic weight, featuring nine marks that represent the combined championships won by both franchises (six for the Bulls and three for the White Sox)

For the first time in MLB history, the uniform will be accompanied by two official on-field caps. The BRED Cap, drenched in the classic red and black, details a winged Sox logo and four stars on the eyelets. On the Inside lining features white and black pinstripes to reflect Sox tradition, while red accents pays homage back to the Bulls dominance. The City Pinstripes Cap blends red and black striping and also includes the four-star motif, tying the design back to the city’s heritage.

“The Bulls were proud to contribute to the White Sox efforts and to be part of creating the first-ever MLB jersey to feature NBA team marks,” said Jon Shoemaker, Executive Director of Creative Services at the Bulls. “We wanted to honor our city and its great fans with a jersey that reflects our mutual connection to and love for Chicago.”

Launched in 2021, Nike’s City Connect series is designed to showcase the cultural fabric of MLB cities through innovative uniform design. With this release, the White Sox become the fifth team in 2025 to launch a City Connect 2.0 jersey, one that doesn’t just tell Chicago’s story, but symbolizes its illustrious history and wears it proudly.
