CHICAGO-- Wade Davis (#BigCountry ) set a franchise record of 27 consecutive saves (and 32 dating back to last season in KC) as the Cubs stifled the Pirates 4-1 at Wrigley Field. Davis didn't want to talk about it after the game as he just wants to let his work show. "Wade just doesn't give in...he has a starting pitcher mentality for a reliever. He knows what he's doing out there," says manager Joe Maddon.
The big hero of the day was #BigFOLKS Anthony Rizzo as he went 3-4 with an rbi double but more impressive was his 3.5 million dollar donation to Lurie Children's Hospital.

Riz is a lymphoma survivor and knows exactly how special this moment was for him. "To be able to give back and do this type of work is so much bigger than winning a World Series," he said fighting back tears. There is a mural on the 18th floor waiting room of the hospital in his honor as well.
#JakeTheSnake Arrieta didn't have his best stuff but had enough to earn his 14th win of the season as he went 6 strong innings giving up 2 hits and 0 runs. "When I came off the mound tonight, I told Joe I was strictly just competing. Just one of those nights where I didn't let me not having great stuff affect me. I was able to make due with what I had," Arrieta said.
#TheVet Ben Zobrist got things cracking in the bottom of 6 with a solo HR to give the Cubs a 1-0 lead. Catcher Alex Avila and #JHey Jason Heyward chipped in with rbi's in the 6th and Rizzo finished it off with an rbi double in the 8th.
Chicago looks for the sweep Wednesday evening as Jose Quintana goes for his 5th win in a Cubbie blue. First pitch is set for 7:05 pm. The Cubs are 3.5 games ahead of the Milwaukee Brewers with 31 games to play.
