#STROPIEBACK...Cubs get 6-3 win over Rockies

CHICAGO- #Stropie Pedro Strop made his first appearance since May 6th and recorded his 5th save of the season as the Cubs beat the Colorado Rockies 6-3 in front of 36,753 at Wrigley Field. "I felt really good. In the beginning the adrenaline of the game took me to another level. I was a little excited so I put the game in my pace. After that I was able to execute," a smiling Strop said.

#ELMago Javier Baez (5-8, a double, 2 HRs 4 runs & 5 RBI in his last 2 games) led the attack tonight offensively going 3-4 with a HR & 2 RBI. #CarGO Carlos Gonzalez was 1-3 with 2 RBI of his own against his former team. Manager Joe Maddon is ecstatic to have him & not have to face him. "#CarGo is such a professional. It's gonna be fun watching him blossom as a Cub."

#PoetryInMotion Kyle Hendricks snatched a win tonight with his 7th QUALITY OUTING of the season taking his overall record to 6-4. "Tonight I was feeling strong...I really only missed on two pitches tonight," said Hendricks. He went seven innings giving up six hits and three runs while walking one and striking out ten on a season high 111 pitches....75 for strikes.


SUMMARY- The Rockies hopped on the board immediately in the top of 1 on an rbi single by ex-Cub Daniel Murphy. The Cubs came back with 2 of their own in the bottom of 2. Ex-Rockie #CarGO Carlos Gonzalez' rbi double scores #ELMago Javier Baez and #PoetryInMotion Kyle Hendricks helped his own cause with an rbi single after an intentional walk to Addison Russell. Colorado tied the game at 2 on a solo HR by Murphy in the top of 4. #BamBam Kyle Schwarber hit a 467 ft BOMB (his 11th of the year) into the left centerfield bleachers in the bottom of 5 to put the Cubs back on top 3-2. #RAKINGSEASON continued for #ELMago as his 2 run blast (#15 on the season) gave the Cubs a 5-2 lead in the bottom of 6. Colorado got one back in the top of 7 on a Tony Wolters rbi single that scored Ryan McMahon to make it 5-3. A Gonzalez sac fly rbi in the bottom of 8 scored #TheNatural Kris Bryant to stretch the Cubs lead to 6-3 and that was all she wrote.
